Colonoscopy

Colonoscopy

is an internal examination of the large intestine using special devices called endoscopes, in this case a colonoscope, a tubular device with an optical system and a light source. Intestinal colonoscopy is the most effective method for diagnosing colon cancer - one of the most common oncological diseases in Lithuania.

The clinic performs colonoscopic examinations using an exclusive quality endoscopic video system from the Japanese manufacturer Fujifilm. Endoscopic equipment is characterized by high resolution so that visible, even minimal, lesions are precisely detected.

The study should be performed if you experience sudden and unexpected weight loss, blood loss, prolonged diarrhea, prolonged abdominal pain, anemia, and colorectal cancer. Colonoscopy is required for at-risk patients - patients 50 years of age or older.

In case of pathological changes in the large intestine (inflammation, polyp, tumor, etc.), biopsy and microscopic examination of the material is performed.

At the patient's request, the examination is performed in complete anesthesia so that the patient does not feel pain.
